Janssonius: Ship Details and Overview

Photo of Janssonius

*The Janssonius is not yet operating in Antarctica*

The Janssonius is a purpose built Polar ship with the highest ice class rating. Because it is designed purely for Polar tourism, every inch of the ship is well thought out and perfect for wildlife watching. There is an entire deck devoted to lectures and presentations which can be delivered in multiple languages. The large observation lounge is beautifully thought out and provides exceptional views in every direction. Onboard you'll also find a large dining room, fully stocked bar and Polar library.

Because the Jassonius is the latest in Polar vessels, the entire ship has been built with the environment in mind. The Janssonius utilises steam heating, LED lighting and bio-degradable paints. The engine is powered by a flexible power management system that reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emission to an absolute minimum. Polar cruising is now going green!

The Janssonius can accommodate up to 170 passengers. The small ship size is perfect for navigating smaller channels and bays and allows the Jassonius to quickly respond to any changing weather conditions.

The interior of the ship feels relaxed and informal, while still being both modern and elegant. The purpose built mud room is a very good size and the sheltered zodiac boarding zone makes getting in and out of the zodiacs a very smooth operation.

The Janssonius is the sister ship to the Hondius and both vessels are superb options for people wanting purpose built expedition ships with modern interiors and the latest equipment.
